Cumming Police Department

Criminal Investigations (CID)

The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for following up initial field reports generated by the UPD.

CID Staff is trained to respond to a wide variety of incidents, and often cooperates and works in tandem with the GBI, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office CSI team, and other agencies to ensure the swift resolution of serious offenses.

CID works during business hours, but CID Detectives are required to be on call 24/7, and are often called away from their personal lives to assist in investigatory matters. CID Officers and the CID Division are most always the final point of contact for a citizen with an active case.

Responsible for latent fingeprint processing, DNA collection, and many other forms of evidence collection, the CID Division undergoes training to stay current on the latest forms of both physical evidence collection, as well as personal evidence collection such as interviews and interrogations.
