About UsPolice Badge Tiled 2

The Cumming Police Department (CPD) oversees the safety and well-being of nearly 6,000 residents within the city limits of Forsyth County, Georgia. The city is located 40 miles north of Atlanta just off Exit 14 of Georgia 400. The city covers approximately six miles of land. Although the city is adjacent to well-known Lake Lanier, less than one percent of it is within the city limits.

The police department was formed in 1931 and its first Chief was John R. Farr. Chief Farr served the city for eleven years. Today the department is headed by Chief Mike Eason, a lifetime criminal justice public servant with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) before joining CPD in 2005. Mike has been a resident of the City of Cumming and Forsyth County for over 30 years.

The area outside the Cumming city limits is served by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The Jurisdiction page in this Website shows a map of the city limits. If you are unsure whether to contact the Cumming Police Department or the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, you may want to review this map to determine if you are within the city limits or not. If you’re still unsure, feel free to contact the Police Department at 770-781-2000 during evening and weekend hours and someone will be happy to help you.

a_Support_Services_-_Lisa_McGee_2During normal business hours you may contact the Support Services Administrative Assistant, Lisa McGee at 770-781-2003 with any questions.
