The entry level salary range for sworn officers starts in the low thirty thousand dollar range and we offer benefits including health, dental, paid POAB and GMA Retirement.  Successful applicants must pass a written examination, a series of interviews, and a polygraph. The City of Cumming Police Department is a drug free work environment.

Those interested in serving in a Reserve capacity must be P.O.S.T. certified and willing to serve at least 24 hours a quarter, maintain training standards and serve during special events.

The Cumming Police Department is a small agency in the north metro Atlanta area. Cumming is an ideal family community offering modern conveniences along with easy access to downtown Atlanta as well as the north Georgia mountains. Situated on Lake Lanier, just off of GA 400, the area is experiencing tremendous growth and boasts a beautiful downtown area, a modern shopping district, Northside Forsyth Hospital, as well as a large fairground that hosts numerous family-friendly events throughout the year.
