The Lanier Extended Area Drivers Education Resource (L.E.A.D.E.R.) is a non-profit organization that provides a new driver's training and education concept for the purpose of enhancing the level of readiness for real road situations by taking advantage of advances in training methods and technology. The mission of the LEADER program is to create an environment within the local and surrounding communities where driver safety is of top concern among all licensed drivers, with particular emphasis on youth driver training. The statistics regarding youth-associated driving deaths is staggering. LEADER has partnered with the Forsyth County school system to offer this course as an elective subject.
The Cumming Police Department is proud to participate in this very worthwhile community program to help teach our youth to “Drive Right for Life.” The number one cause of death for children in the United States ages 16 to 24 is from motor vehicle accidents. We are very pleased that our community has the foresight to make such a grassroots effort to address this problem.
The LEADER program provides extensive traditional classroom education followed by state-of-the-art interactive driver simulator training. LEADER has the largest driving simulator lab in the US. For more information on LEADER, click here to visit their website.
